Our experienced physicians can diagnose and treat most common illnesses. However, if a specialist is needed, we will discuss the referral options with you and initiate the referral process for you with the selected specialty.
Many specialist charges may not be covered without a referral from your child’s primary care doctor. Please schedule an appointment with your doctor before trying to schedule directly with a specialist. Another reason to contact us first is that most specialists will want to read the doctor’s notes before seeing your child. We will provide the specialist with the appropriate chart notes, demographic and insurance information.
Please be patient with the referral process. Non-urgent referrals may take up to 2 weeks from your visit to be scheduled by the specialist office. If you are not contacted within that time frame, please call our office or email our nurses (nurses@noevalleypediatrics.com) so that we can follow up.
Finally, we highly recommend checking with your insurance carrier to ensure that the specialist is covered by your plan.
For therapeutic services, such as speech therapy or physical therapy, you should check to see what your insurance plan covers. If your plan covers these services, you can get a prescription from your child’s doctor and schedule a visit with a contracted provider. In either case, we would be happy to provide you with a list of therapy resources in the area.
