PRESCRIPTION REFILLS
The fastest way to refill your child’s medication is to request a prescription refill directly from the pharmacy where the prescription was originally filled. If required, the pharmacy will contact Noe Valley Pediatrics for authorization to refill the prescription.
Please note that we only provide refill authorizations during clinic hours, so that your child’s doctor can review their chart and provide the optimal prescription. Be sure to plan ahead in order to not run out of any important medications. We prefer that you contact us at least 3 days prior to needing the refill. Also, note that the after hours clinics will not authorize prescription refills.
NEW PRESCRIPTIONS
If you feel that a new prescription is needed for your child, please call to make an appointment for an office visit with one of our physicians. This will allow us to properly evaluation their condition and select the best course of action for their symptoms.
ADHD MEDICATIONS
Some of our patients are being treated for ADHD, which is controlled through a number of therapies, including medication. These medications are controlled substances, which means that they require special attention from your child’s physician, and cannot be called in to the pharmacy. Please call our office 5-7 days in advance of needing a refill to allow your doctor to evaluate the prescription.
ASTHMA MEDICATIONS
When a child is using an inhaler, it is important to check in with your provider on a regular basis. Consistent care helps us promote healthy and active lives for all patients experiencing reactive airway disease. Our first priority is to make sure your child’s asthma symptoms are well controlled. It is also important to make sure medications are current, appropriate, and effective. Regularly reviewing asthma action plans with each family individually assists parents to confidently and appropriately manage their child’s symptoms.
For these reasons, we ask that every patient using an inhaler has an asthma appointment every 3 months. When appropriate, you can combine this appointment with a check-up or another acute care visit. If you need a refill and your child has not had an asthma visit in over 4 months, we will be happy to accommodate your request in addition to booking an asthma-focused visit.
